My rights at flight delay
When am I entitled to a monetary compensation?
If your flight is delayed more than 3 hours comparing to the arrival time indicated in your original reservation the airline must pay you monetary compensation according to
EU Regulation 261/2004.
When the compensation is not due?
Based on the EU Regulation 261/2004 defines the air passenger rights if delay is caused by bad weather, strike or acts of terrorism the monetary compensation is not due. Quite often airlines purposely mislead passengers about the reasons of the delays in order to avoid payment of monetary compensation.
What are my other rights when my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed more than 2 hours the air carrier must offer you such service as:
food and beverages relevant to the waiting time
phone call, telex, fax message or email
when the expected departure time is on the next day the airline must provide a free hotel accommodation and transfer between the airport and hotel
