Get €250 to €600 compensation per passenger
In case of a delay of 3 hours or more on arrival, cancellation, denied boarding or a missed connection on a flight from or to Plovdiv Airport, you can claim compensation of €250, €400 or €600 per passenger. For flights departing from Plovdiv, Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 applies regardless of which airline you fly with. For flights to Plovdiv from a non-EU country, the applicable rules depend on the route and on the airline operating the flight.
The airline does not owe compensation for a delay, cancellation or missed connection if it proves that the problem with the specific flight was caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken - for example, dangerous weather conditions or an air traffic controllers' strike.
Even in extraordinary circumstances, the airline must provide you with care. In case of cancellation or denied boarding, as well as a departure delay of 2, 3 or 4 hours depending on the flight distance, the airline must provide you with:
If you do not receive care, keep your receipts - you can claim reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
The amount of compensation under Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 depends on the flight distance, not on the ticket price. You can claim €250, €400 or €600 per passenger, and the table shows example destinations from Plovdiv.
| Distance | Compensation | Example destinations |
|---|---|---|
| up to 1,500 km | €250 | Milan, Bratislava, Vienna, Warsaw |
| over 1,500 to 3,500 km | €400 | London, Manchester, Birmingham, Paris, Barcelona |
| over 3,500 km, not entirely within the EU | €600 | There are no connecting flights on one booking from Plovdiv over this distance |
Do you have connecting flights?
For connecting flights on one booking, compensation is calculated based on the distance between the first departure airport and the final destination, not the individual flight. This is why in some cases you can claim a higher amount.
