Compensation for a delayed Wizz Air flight.
Passengers who arrive more than three hours late may be entitled to compensation from Wizz Air for a delayed flight of up to €600. Check here
There are certain exceptional circumstances that would exempt the airline from paying compensation, such as bad weather or problems at the airport. In order to take advantage of this, the airline must prove the actual cause of the flight disruption.
If the flight is delayed or canceled due to a technical problem or a strike by the airline's staff, then compensation is due.
Depending on the flight route, the deadline for filing a claim with Wizz Air varies, but there is a one-year statute of limitations from the date of the flight, during which you may submit your claim.

Compensation for a canceled Wizz Air flight.
If you have a flight with Wizz Air and it is canceled less than 14 days before the flight date, you may be entitled to compensation of up to €600 for the cancellation. Check here
In addition to the possibility of receiving compensation, Regulation 261 also entitles you to a re-routing or a refund of the ticket price, as well as care—including meals, beverages, hotel accommodations, and airport-to-hotel-to-airport transfers—when the re-routed flight is scheduled for the following day. The airline must provide all of this, even if the flight is canceled at the last minute due to extraordinary circumstances.
Wizz Air does NOT owe you compensation if the flight is canceled due to circumstances beyond their control. For example: very bad weather conditions, an issue at the airport, or air traffic control restrictions.
In most cases, however, passengers whose flight is canceled immediately before the scheduled departure time are entitled to file a claim for compensation with Wizz Air.
How much compensation must Wizz Air pay?
According to EU Regulation 261, the amount of compensation depends on the flight distance:
| Distance |
Compensation |
| All flights under 1,500 km |
€250 per passenger |
| Flights outside the EU between 1,500 and 3,500 km and flights within the EU |
€400 per passenger |
| Flights outside the EU over 3,500 km |
€600 per passenger |
In rare cases, there are exceptions and special circumstances that may affect the amount of compensation. For example, rerouting and a slight difference in arrival times at the final destination.

Reimbursement of ticket price and other expenses.
You have the right to request a refund from Wizz Air for the cost of your ticket if the flight is:
- It was canceled, and they didn't provide you with another one;
- The flight was delayed by more than 5 hours, and you decided not to travel;
- The flight was oversold, and they did not provide you with an alternative flight. We do not recommend that you do this, because you will forfeit your right to compensation if you are ultimately denied boarding.
You have the right to request the following from Wizz Air:
- To reimburse you for the cost of meals, beverages, hotel accommodations, and transportation if you agreed to be rerouted and these items were not provided to you.
- Reimburse you for your expenses if you were not offered a choice between re-routing and a refund of the ticket price and you had to arrange an alternative for your trip on your own. In this case, the airline will also have to pay you the difference between the old and new tickets.
