Compensation for a delayed easyJet flight
Passengers who arrive more than three hours late may be entitled to compensation from easyJet for a delayed flight of up to €600.
There are certain exceptional circumstances that would exempt the airline from paying compensation, such as bad weather, airport issues, or strikes by air traffic control or airport staff. To be eligible, the actual cause of the flight disruption must be proven by the airline.
If the flight delay is due to a technical issue or a strike by easyJet staff, then compensation is due.
Depending on the flight route, you have a different timeframe for filing a claim with easyJet, but there is a minimum statute of limitations of 1 year from the date of the flight, during which you can submit your claim.

Compensation for a Canceled easyJet Flight
If you have an upcoming flight with easyJet and it is canceled less than 14 days before the flight date, you may be entitled to compensation of up to €600 for the cancellation. Check here
In addition to the possibility of receiving compensation, Regulation 261 also entitles you to a replacement flight or a refund of the ticket price, as well as care—meals, drinks, a hotel, and airport-to-hotel-to-airport transfers—when the replacement flight is on the following day. The airline must provide all of this, even when the flight is canceled at the last minute due to extraordinary circumstances.
easyJet does not owe you compensation if the flight is canceled due to circumstances beyond their control. For example—in the event of very bad weather conditions, an airport issue, or air traffic control restrictions.
In most cases, however, passengers whose flight is canceled immediately before the scheduled departure time are entitled to file a claim for compensation with easyJet.
How much compensation must easyJet pay?
Under EU Regulation 261, the amount of compensation depends on the length of the route:
| Distance |
Compensation |
| All flights under 1500 km |
€250 per passenger |
| Flights outside the EU between 1500 - 3500 km and EU flights over 1500 km |
€400 per passenger |
| Non-EU flights over 3500 km |
€600 per passenger |
In individual cases there are exceptions and special circumstances that may affect the value of the benefit. For example - re-routing and a small difference in arrival times at final destination.

Reimbursement of ticket price and other expenses.
You have the right to request a refund from easyJet for the cost of your ticket if the flight is:
- It was canceled, and they didn't provide you with another one;
- The flight was delayed by more than 5 hours, and you decided not to travel;
- The flight was oversold, and they did not provide you with an alternative flight. We do not recommend that you do this, because you will forfeit your right to compensation if you are ultimately denied boarding.
You have the right to request the following from easyJet:
- To reimburse you for the cost of meals, beverages, hotel accommodations, and transportation if you agreed to be rerouted and these items were not provided to you.
- Reimburse you for your expenses if you were not offered a choice between re-routing and a refund of the ticket price and you had to arrange an alternative for your trip on your own. In this case, the airline will also have to pay you the difference between the old and new tickets.
